I don't like them because they usually take a very complex topic — building a successful business — and dumb it down to what is commonly called “The Hero's Journey.” In their journey, the authors start to climb the mountain, face some challenges, come up with some great ideas and keep climbing until they reach the summit; it's the best thing that they’ve ever done, and they’ve accomplished it.

Summary: Growing up, I wasn't exactly a bookworm. I attribute my lack of reading as a child to having athletic prowess and focusing on other pursuits. In my twenties, friends joked that I was the world's first individual to finish law school without ever reading an entire book from cover to cover. I will neither confirm nor deny that claim.
